I have been working with a patient for the past couple of days who was born in 1912. That makes her 95 years old. Usually, people that age aren't appropriate candidates for inpatient rehab, but she is the most spry 95 year old I've ever known. Actually, I work with lots of old folks and we have time to talk about things they've learned over the years. They mostly like to tell me about their families and the things they are thankful for. As a whole, most of them have great wisdom and good perspective. We had one patient post stroke in her 80's not too long ago. As she strained and pushed herself to walk the 10 feet down the parallel bars, she chanted her mantra, "Don't quit it, keep wi't it, you'll get it." Good advice for us all.
