an asteroid belt of youngness

With great sincerity, Anna Grace gave a solemn speech- a manifesto of childhood- on the way home from the picnic last night.

It went something like this:

"You have to treasure the first ten years of your life.  Up until then, it's an asteroid belt of youngness.  After you turn ten, you are out of the fingers [meaning you can't count your age on your hands] and you become a more mature child, so you have to look back on those great years and just think about how special you are because the world just wouldn't be the same without you."

Anna Grace, it's too true.  The world just wouldn't be the same without you.  Enjoy your asteroid belt of youngness, my sweet girl.  And even when you reach its outer edges, may you carry that childlike spirit with you always.
