hope for joys ineffable

"Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord:  Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting.  Amen."
-a collect for All Saint's Day from the Book of Common Prayer

We've been missing Dad for 12 years now and I still wonder at how he would laugh with us and strum his guitar and delight in his grandkids and grow even deeper in the Word.  But it's not the end and I'm thankful today- every day but especially today- that death has been overcome in the resurrection of Jesus.

Amen and amen.

Happy All Saint's Day, friends.
