picturing advent: days 5 & 6

Abraham laughed and believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.  We can laugh too knowing that the God who promised a wrinkled and hunched couple that they would have a baby kept his promise. And not only that, but He said that they would be blessed and grow to a great nation, God's chosen family to bless the world and he was good for that promise too and a hundred more throughout scripture.

He has done great things.  Against all odds.

Our Christmas hope is a laughing knowledge that things will be made right when he comes again.  Miracles upon miracles happened the first time he came and even though we grieve all the death all around us, we know it's not the end of the story and our hearts can be glad even now.

We laugh a happy Christmas laugh because it is the hope of the ages and ours is a God who keeps His promises.

"God rest ye merry, gentlemen

Let nothing you dismay

Remember, Christ, our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy!"
